The accreditation process involved a comprehensive program self\u2011study, a site visit, and review by external peers, assessing curriculum quality, faculty expertise, experiential learning opportunities, and continuous program improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Accredited planning programs are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain responsive to the evolving needs of communities and the planning profession\u2014providing assurance to students, employers, and professional bodies alike.<\/p>\n<p>Graduating from an accredited planning program is an essential step toward becoming a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) in Canada. As graduates of UFV\u2019s BRCP program, students are eligible to pursue Candidate membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners and affiliated provincial and territorial institutes, supporting their progression toward professional certification.<\/p>\n<p>UFV\u2019s BRCP program emphasizes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regional, community, and urban planning foundations<\/li>\n<li>Sustainability, smart cities, and human\u2011centred design<\/li>\n<li>Experiential learning through practicum placements<\/li>\n<li>Policy, design, and applied planning skills<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous ways of knowing through collaboration with the St\u00f3:l\u014d First Nation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Together, these elements prepare graduates to address complex challenges such as housing affordability, transportation, climate change, and community resilience.<\/p>\n<p>The Faculty of Science extends sincere thanks to the BRCP accreditation team, led by Dr. Cherie Enns, whose leadership and commitment were instrumental in achieving this accreditation.
