Are you interested in an all expenses paid trip to London this summer?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Faculty of Science is seeking students enrolled in a UFV science program to represent UFV at the London International Youth Science Forum taking place from July 19 &#8211; August 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<h3>ABOUT LIYSF<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liysf.org.uk\/\">London International Youth Science Forum\u00a0<\/a>(LIYSF) offers a two-week science Summer Camp in the UK, both online and in-person held at Imperial College London &amp; The Royal Geographical Society. Each year, 500 students aged 16-21 years old from 70 countries enjoy our 15-day STEM Summer Camp with lecture demonstrations from leading scientists, scientific visits to world-class laboratories and science universities, combined with international cultural interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Students can apply directly to LIYSF and pay the cost themselves, however if you are a student enrolled in a science program at UFV who is academically outstanding and has great leadership and communication skills, why not apply through us, and we&#8217;ll cover the cost! The Faculty of Science sends at least one science student to LIYSF each summer, all expenses paid to represent UFV.<\/p>\n<p><em>Travel:<\/em> Students (including Canadian Citizens) may be required to obtain travel documents such as an ETA or a visa. Students are encouraged to research what is needed ahead of their application. Successful student(s) are encouraged to apply for the required travel documents as soon as possible. Travel documents are the responsibility of the student.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION PROCESS<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Around December each year, the Faculty of Science requests applications from interested science students. The deadline for applications is typically the end of February\/early March.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for the selection process, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be aged 16 to 21 (older candidates may be accepted)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Submit a portfolio in a single PDF file, consisting of<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Resume (include full legal, usual name, phone number, email, address, and student number)<\/li>\n<li>Short essay, video, or visual presentation (with voice over) on why you want and qualify for this experience<\/li>\n<li>2 letters of reference from faculty who can speak to your ability &amp; accomplishments as a science student and why you would be a good representative for UFV at the Forum<\/li>\n<li>UFV Transcript<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PRESENTATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shortlisted candidates will be required to present on a research interest to our selection panel.<\/p>\n<p>Presentations will be widely advertised to the university community, and attendance will be open to any interested students, family, friends, staff, and faculty. Presentations are to be 7<em> minutes in length, maximum<\/em>. Presentations will be timed and will be stopped if over time. There will also be a question and answer period so be prepared to answer questions on your presentation. Presentations must be in PDF or Slide format, such as PowerPoint or Google Slides.<\/p>\n<p>Successful candidates will also be required to provide a daily blog article while at the conference and to present on their experience at LIYSF at a future Faculty Council meeting.<\/p>\n<h3>APPLICATION DEADLINE:<\/h3>\n<p>Please send your completed application to <a href=\"mailto:science@ufv.ca\">science@ufv.ca<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>March 4, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Faculty of Science has been sending representatives to LIYSF since 2013.
