After the long day trips and early mornings of the last couple of days it was nice to have our first event at 9:30 this morning; Who doesn\u2019t love to wake up and start the day with a particle physics lecture? Being the first time I could choose my lecturer I was excited to get my first taste of this field of physics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Discussing the mathematics behind the standard model and demonstrating where it breaks down, Dr Luca Mantani walked us through exploring the world of particle physics by analysing data from the Large Hadron Collider. We ventured to the Royal Geographical Society for our principal lecture of the day. Finding herself in the interdisciplinary field between mechanical engineering and chemistry Emma Hailwood discussed her work in researching the effects of eco fuels on the human body.
