Catherine here, back to recap LIYSF 2023 Day 8! On day 8 Manjot and I began our day with visits to scientific facilities. Manjot went to The Jenner Institute at Oxford while I went to HR Wallingford and Oxford as well. Manjot got to learn about designing and developing vaccines and got to see one of their labs.

The first part of my visit was at HR Wallingford. At HR Wallingford they employee people in many STEM fields to work together to solve complex water related issues. This ranges from creating small remote controlled boats that can be fitted with a myriad of sensors to creating wave makers for the US Navy.

We got to see the wavemakers in actions, touch the RC boats, and even go into the world’s most mathematically accurate ship and tug boat simulators.
