We were so excited to welcome our campers back onto campus after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. We kicked off our Science Rocks! Days in October. This event is an extension of our week-long Science Rocks! Summer Camp program.<\/p>\n

\"\"In our Ocean-ology<\/strong> camp, the campers explored the layers of the ocean, how the moon affects tides, and even built their own xylophone to examine sound waves.<\/p>\n

\"\"Our Nature Exploration<\/strong> camp had our campers examining patterns and symmetry in nature at our Chilliwack Campus. UFV Biology Professor and Ecologist, Dr. Alan Reid<\/strong>, took our scientists on a guided tour where they brought back their findings to the lab for further examination.<\/p>\n

The Natural Disasters<\/strong> camp explored earthquake-proof buildings, learning about the Richter scale, and making hurricane jars.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, due to the flooding situation and road conditions along Highway 1 and other parts of the Fraser Valley, the Science Rocks! Team made the decision to cancel the final camp of the season for the safety of our campers, parents and leaders.<\/p>\n

A huge thank you to the Science Rocks! Coordinator, Dr. Robin Endelman<\/strong>; our Fall Science Rocks! Team Leader, Rhien Hare<\/strong> and her group of volunteers, Kasey McDougall<\/strong>, Connor Frey, Janjot Benning, Curtis Plug, Simar Kaur Sekhon, Tessa Lewis, Manreet Sekhon, Brynn Doeleman<\/strong>, and Austin Atkins. <\/strong>This program would not run without the expertise and passion of our science students!<\/p>\n

If you have a budding scientist in your midst why not send them to university for the day to work in a real science lab and experiment with fun activities that explore the sciences. The $40 registration fee<\/strong> includes a Science Rocks! t-shirt, lab book full of cool activities all wrapped up in a full day of fun!<\/p>\n
