{"id":754,"date":"2014-03-17T19:50:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-17T19:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/indocanadianstudies\/?p=754"},"modified":"2014-03-17T19:50:00","modified_gmt":"2014-03-17T19:50:00","slug":"cics-student-association-sapna-present-ehsaas-film-screening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/2014\/03\/17\/cics-student-association-sapna-present-ehsaas-film-screening\/","title":{"rendered":"CICS Student Association SAPNA Presents Ehsaas Film Screening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the support of the Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies, its student group the South Asian Peer Network Association (SAPNA) was successful in being awarded the Global Citizenship Grant which allowed the students to organize a film screening of the Hindi language film \u2018Peepli Live.\u2019 \u00a0The\u00a0Global Citizenship Grants (GCG) is designed to support UFV student-led events, activities, projects,\u00a0training sessions or other appropriate ventures that encourage the UFV student body to be Global Citizens and, in turn, contribute to the internationalization of UFV campuses.<\/p>\n<p>Director Ajay Bhardwaj was the chief guest and moderated discussions afterward. Ajay\u00a0is a documentary filmmaker based in Delhi, currently\u00a0pursuing a PhD in Asian Studies from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Since 2002, while working on different themes, he has had a constant engagement with the north-western state of Punjab, interrogating all its mainstream narratives of culture, politics, history and identity. These explorations have emerged in a documentary trilogy: \u00a0<\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Milange Babey Ratan De Mele Te (Let\u2019s Meet at Baba Ratan\u2019s Fair);\u00a0Rabba Hun Kee Kariye (Thus Departed our neighbours)\u00a0<\/i><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">and\u00a0<\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Kitte Mil Ve Mahi (Where the Twain Shall Meet)<\/i><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">.
