The SASI and many literacy partners from the Abbotsford community including the Abbotsford Community School, Literacy Matters Abbotsford, Mamele\u2019awt Indigenous Education and more hosted educational and interactive activities for families with their own literacy engagement tables. SASI hosted their community literacy table at The Reach Gallery Museum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3581 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/files\/2024\/02\/IMG_8681-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/files\/2024\/02\/IMG_8681-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/files\/2024\/02\/IMG_8681-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/files\/2024\/02\/IMG_8681-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/files\/2024\/02\/IMG_8681-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/sasi\/files\/2024\/02\/IMG_8681-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The SASI team showcased six archival photographs from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sacda.ca\/\">South Asian Canadian Digital Archive (SACDA)<\/a> and quizzed guests on the significance of the photos, encouraging questions and conversations about South Asian Canadian history. They also held puzzle-making activities for children with archival photos from the SACDA collections. Many families enjoyed making the puzzles together and learning about the historic significance behind the photographs of the finished puzzles. The SASI team members engaged with several families, educating them on current and ongoing projects and initiatives of the institute through conversations and fun activities.
