\"\" \"\"Dr. Bains, SASI Director is a part of the Academic Advisory Committee joining scholars, activists and professionals from across Canada to create a national strategy combatting hate. She will also speak on coalition building across Asian Canadian Communities. The conversation comes in light of the exponential rise in anti-Asian violence, hate and crime in British Columbia, with Vancouver being named as the anti-Asian hate crime capital of North America<\/a>. SASI Coordinator Sharanjit Kaur Sandhra has been invited to speak in the same forum on the June 11th<\/sup> sector table on \u201cEducation (K-12, public education, higher education).\u201d<\/p>\n

On June 10-11, the National Forum on\u00a0Anti<\/span>–Asian<\/span>\u00a0Racism<\/a> will\u00a0bring\u00a0together distinguished speakers from across sectors to have frank discussions about the ongoing crisis of\u00a0anti<\/span>–Asian<\/span>\u00a0racism in Canada. The virtual event will focus on the articulation of bold and concrete recommendations for change as well as strengthening relationships of advocacy with other\u00a0anti<\/span>-racism movements.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first day\u00a0of programming\u00a0will be open to the public,\u00a0with sessions\u00a0focusing on the issues impacting\u00a0Asian<\/span>\u00a0Canadians, coalition\u00a0building across\u00a0Asian<\/span>\u00a0Canadian communities, and effective access and advocacy for systemic change.\u00a0The second day\u00a0will be a\u00a0working\u00a0session\u00a0with sector leaders,\u00a0informed by the outcomes of day one.\u00a0The virtual\u00a0event will culminate in a public session;\u00a0this will be an opportunity to share the\u00a0list of bold actions and\u00a0key\u00a0priorities\u00a0that will be presented\u00a0for implementation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
