The South Asian Studies Institute is pleased to announce that a date has been set for its next curated exhibit at the Sikh Heritage Museum<\/a> titled ‘We Are Hockey.’ The exhibit is a vibrant, historically rich, counter narrative of Canada’s beloved sport: hockey.\u00a0Centred on the experiences of peoples of colour, this exhibit challenges singularly racial perspectives on the meaning of Hockey as Canada\u2019s national sport while negotiating the often ambivalent, yet very relevant interrogations of race, ethnicity and the privilege and power of settler communities.<\/p>\n

The exhibit’s Gold Sponsor is Rogers<\/a> with Silver Sponsor CrossConnect Media<\/a> and Bronze Sponsor the Department of Communications at SFU. The exhibit will also feature a community partnership with the Vancouver Canucks, OMNI TV and Sportsnet.<\/p>\n

Save the Date for Friday, March 29th, 5PM<\/strong>. The opening reception will feature a keynote address by the famous hosts of Hockey Night in Canada Punjabi Edition, Harnarayan Singh and Randip Janda.<\/p>\n

More details to follow as the SASI prepares for this exciting exhibit on the experiences of racialized people within Canada’s most popular sport.<\/p>\n
