The first is the BC Arts Council\u00a0<em>Professional Project Assistance: Museums and Visual Arts Organizations<\/em> for the upcoming Sikh Heritage Museum exhibit titled\u00a0<em>Desis in the Diaspora<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The second award, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/museums.in1touch.org\/company\/roster\/companyRosterDetails.html?companyId=30729&amp;companyRosterId=51\">Canadian Museums Association<\/a>, is the\u00a0<em>Dr. Shirley L. Thomson Young Curators Award<\/em>\u00a0and will provide an opportunity for high quality, enhanced learning experiences in art museums and galleries for young graduates and in relation to the upcoming SASI curated exhibit\u00a0<em>Desis in the Diaspora<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Desis in the Diaspora<\/em> an exhibit launching in the Spring 2018, looks at photography from South Asian Canadian youth as they reflect on what South Asian heritage means to them-now and in the past. The exhibit will also feature the work of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jagdeepraina.com\/\">Jagdeep Raina<\/a>, a Canadian artist whose work brings forth archives into a contemporary focus.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the grant successes, the SASI was also featured as a &#8216;Change Maker&#8217; in the 2018 Edition of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/bcmuseumsassn\/docs\/271-roundup-web\"><em>Round Up\u00a0<\/em>Magazine<\/a> published through the BC Museums Association.
