Dear Colleagues,
It took some time for the beautiful summer weather to arrive, but it came to us finally in the last week and it was well worth the wait! Although holiday plans for many of you look different this year with travel restrictions and social distancing requirements, I hope you are finding ways to connect with family and friends, and taking the time to rest and recharge.
I want to share with you one activity I have enjoyed during my time off: reading books. This Sunday is Book Lover’s Day, a day that encourages you to find your favourite reading place, a good book and read the day away. So as you enjoy these next few weeks of summer, sit back, relax, and READ! I encourage you to start by reading the latest President’s blog guest post by Kim Isaac, UFV University Librarian, reminding us of the power of books in these pandemic times.
This week is also the launch of our last survey in the development of our integrated strategic plan. The survey asks for your input into the areas of focus UFV should adopt over the next five years to achieve our three goals of engaging learners, transforming lives and building community. The survey, which will take about 20 minutes, runs until September 25 and as an incentive, UFV is holding weekly draws for Support Local BC $50 gift certificates starting August 17. Be sure to complete the survey as soon as you can – your input is extremely important.
Please enjoy the remainder of summer, and I look forward to speaking with you all again later this month.
