Convocation 2020 postponed

Dear colleagues,

Convocation is one of my favourite days of the academic year and I know how much it means to you to watch our graduates cross the stage. UFV wants to make sure we honour and celebrate students’ achievements in ceremonial fashion in front of our community.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, UFV has followed the direction of the BC Provincial Health Officer and the requirements of our government in maintaining social distance and flattening the curve.

This is why we are postponing our June 2020 Convocation ceremonies.

We are communicating this to students today, and we are actively working on plans for convocation in the future that will give students, faculty, and staff a fulsome and memorable ceremonial experience.

Please be assured that all students who are eligible, and who have completed their requirements for graduation (see UFV Graduation for details), will receive their credentials from UFV by mail in the months ahead – even if they don’t cross the stage until a future date.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and willingness to adapt to the ever-changing challenges of this time in which we are living.

We look forward to celebrating with students and our campus community when we can do so without reservation and without risk to the health and safety of all involved.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joanne MacLean
President and Vice-Chancellor
