Conflict in Ukraine

Dear UFV community member,

Recent world events, including the current conflict in Ukraine, may leave you feeling anxious or unsettled.

Our sense of world order and security, already challenged over the past two years by other global conflicts and the pandemic, is being challenged again and we need to be mindful of the impact on mental health in our community.

Some UFV employees and students are from Ukraine, Russia, or the surrounding region. They may have family who have immigrated to Canada from these countries, or may still have ties to the towns and cities now embroiled in war.

At times like this, the UFV community must pull together and remain an inclusive and understanding place to learn and work.

UFV has support programs available and if you are experiencing distress please contact, in confidence, UFV’s Employee and Family Assistance Programs.

Human Resources also offers Not Myself Today, an initiative of the Canadian Mental Health Association. We encourage you to explore the resources, tools, and activities that are available online 24/7. To create an account for Not Myself Today, please visit their site and use the login code ALXJEM to create a username and password.

Please take care of yourself and those around you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joanne MacLean
President and Vice-Chancellor
