Whether it\u2019s a new smartphone, tablet, or laptop, it\u2019s essential to make sure your MFA methods are up to date, and to secure your new device so it\u2019s ready to use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Ensure your MFA methods are up to date<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/mfasetup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/aka.ms\/mfasetup<\/strong><\/a> and sign in with your UFV account.<\/li>\n<li>Add your new device as an MFA method. Be sure to remove the old device, too!\n<ul>\n<li>Tip: if you\u2019re using the Microsoft Authenticator app, we recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/account-billing\/back-up-account-credentials-in-microsoft-authenticator-bb939936-7a8d-4e88-bc43-49bc1a700a40\">enabling cloud backup<\/a> for a seamless transition to a new device, or for easy recovery in case your device is lost or damaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">Locked out? <\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight-->\u00a0 If you&#8217;re a student, and you lost access to your old devices, you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/id.ufv.ca\/mfa_reset\">the self-service MFA reset portal<\/a>.
