{"id":2961,"date":"2024-09-12T09:54:59","date_gmt":"2024-09-12T16:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/itservices\/?p=2961"},"modified":"2024-09-12T14:29:13","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T21:29:13","slug":"password-update-required-for-all-ufv-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/itservices\/2024\/09\/password-update-required-for-all-ufv-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"Password Update Required for All UFV Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing digital systems security and safeguarding sensitive data, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is implementing a proactive measure in alignment with the recommendation from the British Columbian OCIO and requiring a password update for all employees across UFV.<\/p>\n<p>To facilitate a smooth transition, IT Services will implement the password change process gradually over a two-week period beginning Monday, September 16th, 2024. Please wait until you receive the prompt to change your password. <\/p>\n<p><strong>*Note<\/strong> \u2013 If you have not been prompted to change your password after the two-week period, please restart your computer or log out and back into your M365 applications. <\/p>\n<p><strong>New Password Criteria: <\/strong><br \/>\nThe new passwords must adhere to the following guidelines:<br \/>\n\u2022\tContain a minimum of fourteen (14) characters.<br \/>\n\u2022\tUse a \u201cpassphrase\u201d \u2013 consists of a sequence of words or a sentence. <\/p>\n<p>The passphrase should be easy for you to remember, but not easy to guess.<br \/>\nEx. \u201cHorseJumpFence\u201d or \u201cBananasHealthy\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks to complete after the password update:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tUpdate your password to connect to Eduroam Wi-Fi on your UFV laptop. This will require you to forget the Eduroam network and reconnect. (<a href=\"https:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/TDClient\/52\/ITServicesPortal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=513&#038;SIDs=1231\">Helpful info regarding Eduroam<\/a>).<br \/>\n\u2022\tUpdate passwords on any personal devices, including your mobile phone. (<a href=\"https:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/TDClient\/52\/ITServicesPortal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=838\">Helpful info regarding your mobile device<\/a>).<br \/>\n\u2022\tRe-enter your password into your various Microsoft 365 applications. Once all your applications have been updated with the new password, Single Sign On (SSO) will be active.
