The fraudulent message claims to be from the CRA. Scammers ask individuals to reply or click on a link to verify their identity or receive their refund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do I need to do?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you receive a suspicious email or text message, do not respond, or click on the link. Instead, forward the email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:phishreport@ufv.ca\">phishreport@ufv.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can I check if an email is fraudulent? <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check the sender (From:) address and domain name (e.g., @ufv.ca)<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>In Outlook, hover over the contact\u2019s name to reveal the full email address. This information should match the business.<\/li>\n<li>If there are links in the email, hover over the link to see the destination. Do not click on the link.<\/li>\n<li>Check to see if the email has an <a href=\"https:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/TDClient\/52\/ITServicesPortal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=2810\">external email tag<\/a> in the subject line and footer. This indicates the email came from\u00a0outside of UFV<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Take note of spelling, grammar, or punctuation mistakes.
