Email change for faculty and staff

What do I need to know?

All UFV faculty and staff email will be transferred to a cloud server called Exchange Online, beginning October 7, as the current email system is aging and must be replaced to maintain service and functionality.

ITS has a team dedicated to migrating your email from storage at UFV to the cloud over the next four weeks. You will receive a reminder email a few days before your migration date.

With the move, your username for your email is changing to your email address. Your password will remain the same, unless you elect to change it.

What do I need to do?

The migration to Exchange Online will be deployed remotely, there is no specific action required on your part. You may be prompted to restart your Outlook or enter your password, so please remember your username is changing with this migration.

On a desktop computer or mobile device, Exchange Online will provide a very similar email experience to your current Outlook experience, and will provide many benefits including:

  • Improved data and email protection – Exchange Online has increased data loss prevention capabilities and additional defenses against email threats
  • Accessible email from anywhere – Exchange Online will improve performance across your work computer, personal computer, mobile device or tablet
  • Modern webmail experience – Exchange Online webmail will have a modernized look, consistent with well-known mail applications
