When you see an athlete competing at the Olympic games, you get a short glimpse into the life of an elite athlete.<\/p>\n

What you do not get to see is the hours of dedication, commitment, obstacles and the support team that got them to the Olympic games.<\/p>\n

On December 2, UFV Kinesiology prof Roger Friesen will be sharing an open presentation on \u2018The Road to Rio\u2019.<\/p>\n

Talking about his personal experience working with athletes, a journey that took him to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.<\/p>\n

About Roger Friesen:<\/strong>
\nRoger Friesen has been a sports psychology consultant for more than 20 years, working with athletes from a variety of different sports. He helped prepare Canada\u2019s women\u2019s basketball team in the lead-up period to qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics (their first time qualifying time in many years). He has also worked with Canada\u2019s National Cycling team<\/a> at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, celebrating with athletes that made it to the podium and consoling those who did not.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
