Health education is for everyone, and free local events like the upcoming\u00a0<\/span>Fall Health Fair<\/span><\/a>\u00a0make it more accessible than ever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have questions about nutrition, reproductive health, or vaping? On October 29 at the Chilliwack campus, students from UFV\u2019s Nursing and Kinesiology programs will be on hand to educate the public on various health-related topics. Screenings, information, and health services are available from 10 am to 2 pm.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives from UFV\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Indigenous Student Centre<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Campus Recreation<\/span><\/a>\u00a0will also host information displays, along with the\u00a0<\/span>UFV Trishaw program<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u2014 through specially designed passenger bicycles, this initiative from the\u00a0<\/span>Centre for Education and Research on Aging<\/span><\/a>\u00a0gives older adults with mobility challenges the chance to experience nature and build intergenerational relationships with UFV students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Health Fair visitors can enjoy free food and pet therapy while learning about seasonal affective disorder, sleep hygiene, chronic pain management<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0and more. Those aged 18 years and older can take advantage of the Flu Clinic to boost their immunity for cold and flu season.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity for people to see the beautiful Chilliwack campus, explore the wellness resources, enjoy some pizza, and get their flu shot \u2014 all in one stop. Come learn something healthy, connect with others, and take care of yourself!\u201d says Susan Stoneson, an associate professor and program head with UFV\u2019s School of Health Studies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Every year at the annual Health Fair, Susan looks forward to seeing the students engage with the public as they share the amazing things they are learning in class.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is wonderful to introduce people to our great programs,\u201d\u202fshe says.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, attendees will receive a bingo card, which they can fill out as they visit each booth and answer questions for the chance to win a door prize.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Health Fair represents just one example of the many ways that UFV is engaging learners, transforming lives, and building community. By bringing accessible health education to the local public, the Fraser Valley becomes a healthier place to live. By giving students the chance to put their knowledge into action through sharing their research and promoting public health, UFV prepares the next generation of healers to make a difference in the world.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We all have a part to play in upholding public health, and the Health Fair is the perfect opportunity to get involved. Whether you\u2019re looking to improve your wellness routine, learn more on health-focused topics, test your health knowledge, or get health screenings, there\u2019s something for everyone. Meet with students and faculty, participate in interactive activities, and get free resources to help you stay healthy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
