UFV\u2019s writer-in-res coming atcha! This was a lovely week of strategizing over the events I\u2019ll be leading in the next couple months and guest lectures.<\/p>\n

First off, the class visits\u2026<\/p>\n

My visit to John Carroll\u2019s Seminar in Creative Writing class (ENGL 405) was fantastic. Lively conversation, great questions, and inspired writers. My kind of party! We could have talked for hours about the process of making it to the finish line with a book-length project. Hopefully, I\u2019ll see some of their work flooding my inbox for feedback.<\/p>\n

Michelle Superle\u2019s children\u2019s literature class (ENGL 388) was its own silly fun. I read passages from my novels Strange Times at Western High<\/em> (middle grade), Not Your Ordinary Wolf Girl<\/em> (young adult), and A Girl Like Sugar<\/em> (which would be considered new adult if it were published now). We used these to discuss boundaries between middle grade, teen and new adult fiction\u2014when and why to cross them, what you need to keep in mind when writing for different ages, and different editing considerations.<\/p>\n
