It\u2019s that time of the year lit lovers anticipate with wonder and joy: awards season. From naysayer to cheerleader, everybody\u2019s got something to say about literary awards. Do they really showcase the best of the best? Are they biased and subjective? Elitist? Are they the surest route to fame and fortune?<\/p>\n

\"Giller<\/a><\/p>\n

Whatever your take on the awards, one thing\u2019s for sure: they always stir up delectable debate<\/a>. And we love it\u2014don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

There are hundreds of literary prizes<\/a> bestowed around the world\u2014some of the most famous are the Nobel Prize<\/a> for Literature, the Man Booker<\/a> Prize, and the Pulitzer<\/a> Prize\u2014but in Canada we have our fair share of illustrious awards<\/a>. And controversy. And virtuosic writing.<\/p>\n

This year is no exception. The winners of some of our best-known, most prestigious awards have recently been announced. Check out the GGs<\/a> and the TD Children\u2019s Literature Award<\/a>. And the big-ticket Giller<\/a>, ringing in at $140,000, was revealed last week.<\/p>\n

So what do you think of the winners? Who would you have picked? Which winners will you read over the holiday break this year?<\/p>\n
