\"\"The Communications Department<\/a> is pleased to welcome Dr. Rita Atake to our list of faculty members. Rita comes to the department with both strong academic and administrative experience.<\/p>\n

Dr. Atake holds a PhD in Education concentrating in Adult Learning from the University of Calgary<\/a> (2016), a Master\u2019s in Communications Studies from the University of Leeds<\/a> in the United Kingdom (1992), and a Bachelor\u2019s of English with Honors from the University of Lagos<\/a> (1990). Some of Rita\u2019s areas of research include:<\/p>\n

Internationalization<\/a> and curriculum development
\nOnline\/e-learning<\/a> for non-western students
\nSocio-academic adjustment<\/a> for international adult learners
\nTechnology and learning<\/a><\/p>\n

Additionally, Rita\u2019s applied communication experience includes directing programs, managing operations, developing technology resources and instructing. These positions drew heavily on workplace communication skills such as team facilitation<\/a>, grant writing<\/a>, reporting to internal and external organizations<\/a>, developing relationships with stakeholders<\/a>, including with Indigenous communities<\/a>.
