On March 17, the Community Health and Social Innovation Hub (CHASI) partnered with BC’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner<\/a> (BCOHRC), UFV’s Race and Antiracism Network<\/a>, and the South Asian Studies Institute<\/a> to present “Revealing Systemic Racism and Inequalities in BC: Using disaggregated demographic and race-based data.”<\/p>\n

This is a recording of that virtual conversation with representatives from BCOHRC \u2014 Kasari Govender and Trish Garner \u2014 along with First Nations Data Governance Initiative champion Gwen Phillips.<\/p>\n

The 90-minute event discussed BCOHRC’s recent report, “Disaggregated demographic data collection in British Columbia: The grandmother perspective” which advocates for governmental use of disaggregated data such as race-based data to “illuminate systemic inequalities and injustices.” The full report, along with a detailed summary, is available online at bchumanrights.ca\/publications\/datacollection<\/a>.<\/p>\n
