As part of preparations for Level 1 (L1) occupancy in the renovated Dining Hall (Building B), a series of essential safety system tests will be conducted from Tuesday, July 22 to Friday, July 25, 2025. These tests are necessary to ensure the safety and functionality of critical systems, including fire alarms, water supply, and power systems.
The scheduled dates and times are as follows:
- Tuesday, July 22 | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Kitchen Fire Suppression Pre- Trip Test
Fire alarm testing will take place throughout this period.
- Thursday, July 24 | 10:00 AM – 1200 PM
Kitchen Fire Suppression Final Pre- Trip Test
Fire alarm testing will take place throughout this period.
- Friday, July 25 | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Integrated Systems Test

- Fire alarm testing will take place throughout this period.
- 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM Temporary power shutdown is expected (Approx. 30 minutes)
- 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM A brief water supply shutdown is expected (Approx. 30 minutes)
What do I need to do?
- Alarms may sound intermittently as part of the testing process. No evacuation is required unless instructed by security.
- Temporary Water Shutdown isolated to building B on Friday, July 25. This will impact all washrooms, kitchenettes, water fountains and other sources. Please plan accordingly and consider using alternative facilities during this time.
- Temporary Power shutdown in building B on Friday, July 25 may impact lighting, elevators and electronic devices. Please save your files and avoid using elevators during this window.
