The symposium will take place at the UFV Abbotsford Campus, Building B, Room 140.<\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-410 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/files\/2017\/05\/Louis-1-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"235\" \/>St\u00f3:l\u014d Community Futures Community Resource Manager &#8211; Louis De Jaeger<\/h2>\n<p>Business entrepreneur, social activist, community advocate and community leader. Louis De Jaeger is passionate about helping Indigenous entrepreneurs and is currently President of the Sto:lo Business Association. Louis speaks about creating an economic eco-system that drives community partnerships, supports entrepreneurial growth, and examines business based on one\u2019s \u2018worldview\u2019- profit vs prosperity in a changing business world.<br \/>\nWith a hospitality career that spans 35 years from Winnipeg to Vancouver and London, UK. The Restaurant Owner turned politician (2015 Federal Liberal Candidate for Chilliwack-Hope) now works as a Community Resource Manager for Sto:lo Community Futures based in Chilliwack while finishing his Master\u2019s in Business and Aboriginal Leadership at Simon Fraser University. \u201cBusy is \u2018entrepreneurship\u2019, we are probably the worst boss we\u2019ve ever had\u201d<br \/>\nAccolades include: 2016 Al McCacken award for Business Volunteer of the Year for BC (Community Futures), 2015 Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce Aboriginal Business of the Year, 2012 Outstanding Achievement for Aboriginal Business in BC, 3-time winner Dining Excellence Award ~ Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, 6-time winner Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival (wine list awards).<br \/>\nLouis\u2019 ancestral families are Sinclair and Norquay, with family ties to the Hudson\u2019s Bay Fur Trade. He is Michif, Scottish-Cree from St. Andrews, Red River Settlement. His ggg-Uncle was John Norquay, first Metis Premier of Manitoba.<\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-407 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/files\/2017\/05\/DSC_7769_1-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"179\" height=\"220\" \/>Upper Fraser Valley Habitat for Humanity Restore Building Materials Coordinator &#8211; Jeanette Y. Martin<\/h2>\n<p>Jeanette has\u00a0been in the building industry (hardwood flooring, laminate, carpet and vinyl plank and natural stone countertops) for a combined 15 years as Senior Project Manager, Direct of Sales and Marketing, Director on the board of the BC Covering Association (current), Account Manager and \u00a0District \/ Sales Managers for Staples, Starbucks, eatons\/Sears, Reitams\/Dalmys. She has chosen the career of Professional Sales as she\u00a0loves the customer experience and wishes clients to be educated before the purchase. Her role with\u00a0 Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Fraser Valley is to secure donations of building materials, household items, and overstock goods for their ReStores in Abbotsford, BC, and Chilliwack, BC.<\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-405 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/files\/2017\/05\/Dobson-David.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"156\" height=\"235\" \/>UFV Faculty Member &#8211; David Dobson<\/h2>\n<p>David is an applied researcher with a strong background in advanced analytics and marketing research. He brings over 20 years of industry and academia experience. He has held various research positions in both the public and private sector and has taught at various post-secondary institutions, including Simon Fraser University.<\/p>\n<p>David is a SAS certified predictive modeler. His research interests focus on empirical analysis of social media marketing and green marketing on corporate profitability. He is a member of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association and American Statistical Association. David regularly collaborates on applied research projects with local businesses\/organizations and supervises business student research projects. His students have won multiple research excellence awards at UFV.<\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-421\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/files\/2017\/05\/sarahs-1-236x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/files\/2017\/05\/sarahs-1-236x300.png 236w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/files\/2017\/05\/sarahs-1.png 417w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 175px) 100vw, 175px\" \/>UFV Student Researcher &#8211; Sarah Speight<\/h2>\n<p>Sarah is a fourth-year honors geography student at University of the Fraser Valley. She completed the first two years of her degree at Okanagan College in Kelowna, BC and transferred to UFV in the fall of 2016. Sarah has held various research assistant positions and hopes to continue on to an MA in Geography after her graduation in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah\u2019s research focuses on the intersections between food security, health and the physical environment. She is passionate about community-based research methodologies and making research more accessible to the general public. Sarah has had the opportunity to contribute to several research projects while at UFV and has presented research at WDCAG, CAG, UFV Professional Development Day, and Undergraduate Research Day where she was awarded the \u201cAssociate V.P.
