{"id":239,"date":"2017-02-28T15:06:46","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T15:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/?p=239"},"modified":"2020-03-09T21:20:24","modified_gmt":"2020-03-09T21:20:24","slug":"1000-scholarship-for-accounting-students-new-deadline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/business\/2017\/02\/28\/1000-scholarship-for-accounting-students-new-deadline\/","title":{"rendered":"$1,000 Scholarship for Accounting Students &#8211; NEW DEADLINE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the inclement weather earlier in January and February the committee has decided to amend the dates for the scholarship process as follows:\u00a0<strong>March 10, 2017<\/strong> &#8211; Students need to submit their applications to their university\u2019s professor.<\/p>\n<p>This year, accounting students from UFV are eligible to apply for one of three $1,000 scholarships funded equally by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fvcpaa.ca\/\">FVCPAA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bccpa.ca\/cpaef\/about-cpaef\/\">CPAEF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students are requested to submit their application to their university\u2019s professor for consideration. The university representative for UFV is\u00a0Dr.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufv.ca\/business\/faculty-and-staff\/leung-raymond.htm\">Raymond Leung<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the FVCPAA are to foster:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>professional relationships amongst CPA\u2019s in the Fraser Valley<\/li>\n<li>Professional growth by advocating for CPABC accredited courses in the Fraser Valley for convenience<\/li>\n<li>Increasing public awareness of CPA\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>Inspiring CPA students by providing scholarships and mentorship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students who wish to be considered for the studentship\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0fill out the application form available on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fvcpaa.ca\/scholarship-program\/\">FVCPAA website<\/a>\u00a0and meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must maintain a high grade point average and participate in significant volunteer work.<\/li>\n<li>Must have completed 3rd year of accounting program and registered for 4th year and must plan to enter CPA program.<\/li>\n<li>Complete\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fvcpaa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Application-FVCPAA-Scholarship-2017.pdf\">application form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Two brief letters of reference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For questions or submissions please contact Dr. Raymond Leung (<a href=\"mailto:raymond.leung@ufv.ca\">raymond.leung@ufv.ca<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Deadline: March\u00a010, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the inclement weather earlier in January and February the committee has decided to amend the dates for the scholarship process as follows:\u00a0March 10, 2017 &#8211; Students need to submit their applications to their university\u2019s professor.
