{"id":9120,"date":"2015-09-25T15:54:46","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T22:54:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/announce\/?p=9120"},"modified":"2015-10-09T14:56:43","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T21:56:43","slug":"safety-tips-from-ufv-security-and-emergency-management-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/announce\/2015\/09\/25\/safety-tips-from-ufv-security-and-emergency-management-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Safety tips from UFV Security and Emergency Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the fall semester begins, here are some tips from Security and Emergency Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All office blinds should be closed when not in use.<\/li>\n<li>Secure ALL belongings when you are out of your office, preferably in a locked drawer or cabinet.<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave anything of visible overnight.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your personal property with you at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave your items unattended, even if you are only leaving for a brief time.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a list of serial numbers (including credit cards) in the event of theft. Such list will help identify and recover your stolen property, cancel credit &amp; debit cards, and help you file police reports &amp; insurance claims.<\/li>\n<li>Consider marking your valuables so they can be easily identified. Marking your bike or other items with your driver&#8217;s licence or phone number will help police ID the rightful owner quickly. Stickers or other personalizations help police ID your items if found.<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave any valuables visible in your vehicle; ensure it is alarmed or locked before you enter a building.<\/li>\n<li>If an item of yours is stolen, notify security. They can help find your item or help you file a police report.<\/li>\n<li>Security can be reached at local 7654 or 1-855-239-7654; First Aid at local 7770.<\/li>\n<li>Program the Security and First Aid contact number into your business and personal phones.<\/li>\n<li>Safe walks are always available 24\/7. Just call security.<\/li>\n<li>If working alone, nights or weekends, please notify security and let them know who and where you are. Request periodic patrols by your area\/office.<\/li>\n<li>Never allow anyone but yourself to utilize your building access cards or codes.<\/li>\n<li>Safety and Security is everyone\u2019s responsibility, therefor we are 17,000 strong.<\/li>\n<li>Notify Security if you see something or someone you feel is suspicious. We will be more than pleased to investigate.<\/li>\n<li>Do not let strangers into the buildings.<\/li>\n<li>Restrict office keys only to a select few.<\/li>\n<li>Do not label your keys or access cards. In the event that they are lost or stolen.<\/li>\n<li>Always be mindful of who\u2019s listening (or may be listening) to your conversations.
