UFV\u2019s Modern Languages department is launching a new Linguistics and Language Studies associate certificate in September 2026.<\/p>\n
This 12-credit credential introduces students to the study of language, including how language is structured, learned, and used in diverse cultural and social contexts. Students take courses in linguistics alongside a 200-level language course in areas such as Spanish, French, Japanese, Halq\u2019em\u00e9ylem, Punjabi and others.<\/p>\n
The certificate can be completed in as few as two semesters and can be taken on its own or alongside another UFV program. It is a flexible option for students interested in language, communication, cultural diversity, Indigenous and world languages, TESL, education, intercultural communication, community work, or related fields.<\/p>\n
Students may also take Linguistics courses independently from the certificate.<\/p>\n
