A hands-on workshop series focused on building foundational AI literacy, strengthening prompting skills, and applying AI effectively in your workflow. The workshops are scaffolded but can be taken separately if you have a good grasp of the basics.<\/p>\n

Requirements: Laptop plus a free OpenAI account and access to Copilot.
\nFacilitators: Anna Griffith, PhD & Dr. David Thomson<\/p>\n

Workshop 1: AI Literacy & Prompting Fundamentals
\nWhat this workshop is about: Understanding how AI works and learning how to communicate with it effectively.
\nDate: May 13, 2026, 2-4 pm<\/p>\n

You will learn how to:
\n\u00b7 Understand different types of AI and how generative AI works (strengths + limits)
\n\u00b7 Navigate privacy, risk, and ethical considerations
\n\u00b7 Write clear, purposeful prompts<\/p>\n

You will practise:
\n\u00b7 Testing different prompting strategies and comparing outputs
\n\u00b7 Building prompts for your own workflow (email, lesson planning, brainstorming, etc.)<\/p>\n

You will leave with:
\n\u00b7 A reusable Prompt Starter Pack (10\u201315 prompts) created by you and specific to your needs
\n\u00b7 Greater confidence using AI for everyday tasks<\/p>\n

Workshop 2: Bias, Hallucinations & Prompt Optimization
\nWhat this workshop is about: Using AI critically and optimizing its outputs.
\nDate: May 20, 2026, 2-4pm<\/p>\n

You will learn how to:
\n\u00b7 Identify bias, gaps, and missing perspectives in AI outputs
\n\u00b7 Recognize hallucinations, fabrications, and inaccuracies using verification strategies
\n\u00b7 Improve quality and reliability of outputs using more advanced prompting techniques<\/p>\n

You will practice:
\n\u00b7 Analyzing AI outputs for bias and omissions
\n\u00b7 Intentionally provoking errors to understand why they happen
\n\u00b7 Writing prompts that critique, verify, and refine AI responses<\/p>\n

You will leave with:
\n\u00b7 A Bias & Accuracy Checklist
\n\u00b7 Prompt optimization ladders<\/p>\n
