Dr. Ajay Parasram, an associate professor in International Development Studies and History from Dalhousie University (unceded Kjipuktuk), will be speaking on pluriversal sovereignty, imperial political economy, and decolonial development. Ajay is a transnational, multigenerational byproduct of the British empire, with roots in South Asia, the southern Caribbean, and across Turtle Island. He is the author of the award-winning 2023 book, <em>Pluriversal Sovereignty and the State: Imperial Encounters in Sri Lanka<\/em>.
