Registration closes February 3, or once spots are filled.<\/p>\n<p>This timely gathering will bring together two distinguished speakers whose work addresses the enduring impact of settler colonialism and the resilience of Indigenous cultures:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Gwendolyn Point<\/strong><br \/>\nKnowledge keeper for the BC Assembly of First Nation Chiefs, former Chancellor of UFV, and long-time educator and advocate for Indigenous language and culture. Dr. Point has served her home community of Sts\u2019ailes and the broader St\u00f3:l\u014d Nation in leadership and educational roles for over three decades.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Andr\u00e9 Elias Mazawi<\/strong><br \/>\nProfessor and department head of Educational Studies at UBC. Dr. Mazawi is a sociologist of education whose scholarship critically examines the intersection of education, coloniality, and geopolitics \u2014 particularly in the Arab region. He is co-editor of Policies and Pedagogies of Canadian Offshore School Programs (Routledge, 2024).<\/p>\n<p>Together, Dr. Point and Dr. Mazawi will guide a dialogue on the ongoing realities of dispossession and resistance, bridging insights from Palestine and Indigenous communities in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>This event is hosted by the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee of the Faculty of Education, Community, and Human Development, with sponsorship from the Centre for Justice, Equity &amp; Sustainable Action.
