UFV and community members are invited to attend a hybrid anti-racism talk by journalist and author Harrison Mooney on Friday, Feb 7 from 4-6 pm. The event takes place on the UFV Abbotsford campus, as well as online.<\/p>\n
Mooney is a winner of the Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for his 2022 memoir Invisible Boy. He shares his journey from “white cult to Black consciousness as a transracial adoptee raised in a white evangelical Abbotsford family.”<\/p>\n
The UFV alumnus returns for an in-depth discussion of adoption, abandonment, identity, faith, and his heart-breaking yet often hilarious book, which reclaimed his life story and led him back home.<\/p>\n
This event is hosted by the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee of the Faculty of Education, Community, and Human Development, with sponsorship from CIVL Radio.<\/p>\n
