{"id":33386,"date":"2024-09-13T14:26:30","date_gmt":"2024-09-13T21:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/announce\/?p=33386"},"modified":"2024-09-13T14:26:30","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T21:26:30","slug":"ufv-password-change-process-begins-monday-sept-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/announce\/2024\/09\/13\/ufv-password-change-process-begins-monday-sept-16\/","title":{"rendered":"UFV password change process begins Monday, Sept 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What do I need to know?<\/strong><br \/>\nNew password criteria is coming for UFV employees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When will it happen?<\/strong><br \/>\nITS will implement the password change process gradually over a two-week period <strong>beginning Monday, September 16. <\/strong>Please wait until you receive the prompt to change your password.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How will I update my password?<\/strong><br \/>\nEmployees will be prompted to update their password when logging in to their UFV device or signing in to a UFV application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What systems will require the new password?<\/strong><br \/>\nAll UFV applications will use the new password.<br \/>\nThis includes but is not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Workstation log-on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Eduroam Wi-Fi \u2013 This will require you to forget the Eduroam network and reconnect (<a href=\"https:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/TDClient\/52\/ITServicesPortal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=513&amp;SIDs=1231\">Helpful info regarding Eduroam<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook and Teams \u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/TDClient\/52\/ITServicesPortal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=1442\">Helpful info regarding M365 applications<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal Devices \u2013 including your mobile phone (<a href=\"https:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/TDClient\/52\/ITServicesPortal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=838\">Helpful info regarding your mobile device)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>myUFV<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the new password criteria?<\/strong><br \/>\nYour new password must adhere to the following guidelines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contain a <strong>minimum<\/strong> of fourteen (14) characters.<\/li>\n<li>Use a \u201cpassphrase\u201d \u2013 consists of a sequence of words or a sentence. The passphrase should be easy for you to remember, but not easy to guess. Ex. \u201cHorseJumpFence\u201d or \u201cBananasHealthy\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why are we changing our password?<\/strong><br \/>\nAs part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing digital systems security and safeguarding sensitive data, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is implementing a proactive measure in alignment with the recommendation from the British Columbian OCIO and requiring a password update for all employees across UFV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What if I\u2019m not prompted by ITS to change my password by the end of September?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you have not been prompted to change your password after the two-week period, please restart your computer or log out and then back into your Microsoft 365 applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will students need to change their passwords too?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo, students already adhere to a strong password policy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions?<\/strong><br \/>\nEmail: <a href=\"mailto:itservicedesk@ufv.ca\">itservicedesk@ufv.ca<\/a><br \/>\nPhone: 604-864-4610<br \/>\nVisit: <a href=\"http:\/\/itservicedesk.ufv.ca\/\">itservicedesk.ufv.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do I need to know?
