As members of UFV-FSA DRISC (decolonization, reconciliation, indigenization standing committee) we will address the meaning of those terms and discuss what decolonization can look like on a personal level.<\/p>\n<p>Chantel Watts<br \/>\nMaggi Davis<br \/>\nUFV-FSA DRISC<\/p>\n<h3>How did so many post-secondary institutions get it wrong?<\/h3>\n<p>Recognizing and working to mitigate the natural tension that arises from decolonizing institutions is an ongoing process. This requires us to be more intentional and thoughtful, more responsive, and less reactionary. Collaboration is key and leveraging the breadth and depth of knowledge we have is important. We need our critical friends.<\/p>\n<p>Sundeep Hans<br \/>\nDirector EDI<\/p>\n<h3>Attention to Students and Community Pulse &#8212; Authentic and Critical Engagement<\/h3>\n<p>What does it mean to understand a &#8216;pulse&#8217; of an academic, student, and university community? What happens when that pulse is not felt, and what happens to the student experience of learning? Sharn Sandhra will discuss the implications of this, along with what is at stake when authentic and critical engagement is not fostered.
