As members of UFV-FSA DRISC (decolonization, reconciliation, indigenization standing committee) we will address the meaning of those terms and discuss what decolonization can look like on a personal level.<\/p>\n

Recognizing and working to mitigate the natural tension that arises from decolonizing institutions is an ongoing process. This requires us to be more intentional and thoughtful, more responsive, and less reactionary. Collaboration is key and leveraging the breadth and depth of knowledge we have is important. We need our critical friends.<\/p>\n

What does it mean to understand a ‘pulse’ of an academic, student, and university community? What happens when that pulse is not felt, and what happens to the student experience of learning? Sharn Sandhra will discuss the implications of this, along with what is at stake when authentic and critical engagement is not fostered. She will provide meaningful solutions on the urgency of the work needed to foster growth in relation to ongoing calls to action and accountability.<\/p>\n
