They also help prevent unsafe conditions that could lead to evacuations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Floor warden responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be ready to assist in evacuation<\/li>\n<li>Be familiar with your assigned areas and assist in a safe and orderly evacuation of building occupants in the event of an emergency evacuation<\/li>\n<li>Participate in orientation and training opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Participate in regular fire evacuation drills<\/li>\n<li>Participate in post emergency assessments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Help keep your assigned area safe<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regularly check your assigned areas for accumulation of combustible materials.<\/li>\n<li>Regularly check for dangerous ignition sources.<\/li>\n<li>Report malfunctioning exit signs and check for adequate lighting in public areas.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that exit routes are not obstructed.<\/li>\n<li>Report any safety concerns or hazards to Risk and Safety immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To become a floor warden at UFV<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Risk &amp; Safety team approaches departments for volunteers to fill the floor warden role any time there is a gap in coverage for a specific building area. You are also welcome to volunteer to become a floor warden.
