We will explore how the instructor can prepare for success, flip the virtual classroom, and engage students during live sessions. To demonstrate the techniques and objectives, this course will be delivered live \/ real-time (synchronously) during the scheduled time.<\/p>\n<p>Facilitator: Dugg Steary, Learning Designer<\/p>\n<p>Thurs, June 18<br \/>\n2-3 pm<\/p>\n<p>This series of MicroCourses will introduce the essential Blackboard tools, but the primary objective of these MicroCourses is the pedagogy behind the tools and how they can be used to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Achieve learning objectives<\/li>\n<li>Promote student engagement<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate among peers and instructors<\/li>\n<li>Creative easy-to-navigate course design<\/li>\n<li>Assess student learning<\/li>\n<li>Offer support to students<\/li>\n<li>Create an online learning community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Delivery<\/strong><br \/>\nEach MicroCourse will be delivered in a one-hour scheduled synchronous session and an additional Blackboard course and asynchronous activity\/ reading\/ resource\/ that would take about one hour. Sessions will be recorded for reference in the asynchronous courses.<\/p>\n<p>All sessions will be open to UFV employees. Each MicroCourse aims to require 1, 1.5, or 2 hours to complete, in-line with Lynda.com (LinkedIn) and Mentor Commons online courses. A synchronous component may be necessary in the Synchronous MicroCourse.<\/p>\n<p>Feedback will be on a facilitator and peer feedback basis. Participants must create an activity, ILO, or assessment to complete the MicroCourse and receive a credential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Access<\/strong><br \/>\nEach MicroCourse will reside in its own Blackboard course shell. Faculty will be required to self-enroll for each course<\/p>\n<p>Course Access<br \/>\nEach MicroCourse has a separate myClass (Blackboard) course with support materials and resources. Participants will need access to UFV myClass (Blackboard) to complete course requirements.
