He is also a former editor of\u00a0PRISM\u00a0international and\u00a0Event \u2014 two of Canada\u2019s most respected literary journals \u2014 and a previous writer-in-residence at both Queen\u2019s University and at the Berton House in Dawson City, Yukon. He\u2019s currently co-editing\u00a0Valley: A Poetry Anthology\u00a0with Surrey Poet Laureate Renee Sarojini Saklikar. He grew up in Langley, and now resides in East Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>Ren\u00e9e Sarojini Saklikar is Poet Laureate for the City of Surrey, British Columbia. Her first book, children of air india, (Nightwood Editions, 2013) won the 2014 Canadian Authors Association Award for poetry and her second book, with Wayde Compton, The Revolving City: 51 Poems and the Stories Behind Them (Anvil Press\/SFU Public Square, 2015) was a finalist for a 2016 City of Vancouver Book Award. Nightwood Editions recently release a collection of bee poems written by Ren\u00e9e, in response to essays by GG award-winning Dr. Mark Winston, entitled Listening to the Bees.<\/p>\n<p>Lutselk\u2019e Dene and Plains Cree poet Tawahum Justin Bige resides on unceded Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish territory colonially known as Vancouver. Their work has appeared in Red Rising Magazine, Oratorealis and Pulp Magazine. Tawahum\u2019s poetry stokes the sacred fire of resurgence and decolonization on occupied Turtle Island.
