Douglas has developed, with a colleague, a new model for trauma-informed research interviewing with vulnerable women.<\/p>\n<p>Alicia Horton \u2013 Gender and power dynamics in qualitative interviews with formerly imprisoned men<\/p>\n<p>In her talk, Professor Horton will address how reflexive practice require consideration of the ways in which researchers and interviewees \u2018do\u2019 gender in the context of a qualitative interview and how this might shape the quality of qualitative data and analyses. Drawing on in-depth interview data from a project involving 23 formerly incarcerated men, Horton will demonstrate the ways in which expectations of masculinity are embodied and performed by male interviewees in the context of a qualitative interview with a woman researcher.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\nMeetings of the Scholarly Sharing Initiative are a place where faculty, students, and interested others can gather over some delicious lunch to share, discuss, present, and receive feedback on their scholarly work.
