{"id":13069,"date":"2017-01-03T15:50:56","date_gmt":"2017-01-03T23:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/announce\/?p=13069"},"modified":"2017-01-03T15:50:56","modified_gmt":"2017-01-03T23:50:56","slug":"nominations-invited-for-professor-and-librarian-emeritus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/announce\/2017\/01\/03\/nominations-invited-for-professor-and-librarian-emeritus\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations invited for Professor and Librarian Emeritus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Nomination deadline: February 15, 2017<\/em><\/p>\n<p>UFV grants the honourable designation of professor or librarian emeritus in recognition of long service and contributions to the institution.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How does someone earn emeritus status?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nAs noted in\u00a0the\u00a0university&#8217;s\u00a0Collective Agreement, an emeritus designation is <em>not<\/em> automatic. The designation of &#8220;Professor Emeritus&#8221; or &#8220;Librarian Emeritus&#8221; may be awarded by the UFV Board of Governors to a retired faculty member who has served a minimum of 15 years as a full-time faculty member. The person must first be nominated for the designation by a Department Head or Director, and the nomination must be approved by both the Dean, and the Provost and Vice-President, Academic.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What entitlements are granted to a professor or librarian emeritus?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nRecipients of this designation are entitled to emeritus\/emerita status, UFV emeritus identification, library privileges, email privileges, and faculty parking privileges. Use of other UFV facilities and office space will be approved by a Dean depending on availability for current needs. With consent of the department concerned, the person may continue to attend department meetings with voice but no vote.<\/p>\n<p>Departments are encouraged to use the expertise of their emeritus colleagues as guest lecturers, substitute faculty and members of committees.
