The President\u2019s office is seeking nominations for the 2017 honorary degrees.\u00a0 Please see the details of the search procedure noted below.\u00a0 Thank you for any ideas you may have.<\/p>\n
University of the Fraser Valley \u2014 Honorary Degrees<\/strong><\/p>\n UFV employees, students, alumni and members of the Board of Governors may make nominations for the award of honorary degrees. Honorary degrees will be awarded at the June 2017 UFV convocation ceremonies. Recipients of honorary degrees will be asked to attend the UFV convocation ceremonies to receive the award, and would be expected to make a short address at convocation.<\/p>\n Selection Criteria: Awards will not normally be granted posthumously.<\/p>\n Candidates will have made outstanding contributions which are regional, provincial, national, or international in scope. Candidates\u2019 contributions must be consistent with the mission and values of UFV.<\/p>\n Benchmarks:<\/strong><\/p>\n Nominations will be considered with reference to the following \u201cbenchmarks\u201d.\u00a0 While a candidate might not be expected to fulfill all of these criteria, they will be used as overall measures of the candidate\u2019s suitability.<\/p>\n Nomination Guidelines:\u00a0 <\/strong>Nominations must be in writing.<\/p>\n The nomination document should include:<\/p>\n (a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0a letter that explains clearly and concisely why the nominee is deserving of the award,<\/p>\n based on the criteria above,<\/p>\n (b)\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0a biographical summary outlining accomplishments with examples of relevant information,<\/p>\n (c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0contact information for the nominee.<\/p>\n Examples of such supporting documents might include a biography, lists of the nominee\u2019s referred publications, shows, or public performances, or documentation of other honors received by the nominee.
