Peer leaders don\u2019t follow a certain profile &#8212; volunteers can come from all walks of life and bring different life experiences to the table. Successful peer leaders will have the following characteristics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Empathetic<\/li>\n<li>Compassionate<\/li>\n<li>Able to quickly build relationships with new people<\/li>\n<li>Mature<\/li>\n<li>Committed and reliable<\/li>\n<li>Respectful of privacy and confidentiality<\/li>\n<li>Appreciative of diverse lifestyles and points of view<\/li>\n<li>Flexible and open to change<\/li>\n<li>Able to work individually as well as in a team setting<\/li>\n<li>Able to remain calm during emergency situations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Peer leaders are asked to commit to 4-5 hours a week for a minimum of two semesters (September to April).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ufv.ca\/prlc\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.ufv.ca\/prlc\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Ashley Hayes at <a href=\"mailto:ashley.hayes@ufv.ca\">ashley.hayes@ufv.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #fff;\">07\/15\/2016<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can you lend a hand?
