Sustainable UFV Volunteer Opportunity: Building Walk-Throughs

sustainableufv_rgb_transparent-bgThank you to all who were able to come out and help with the Waste Audit on October 6th! It was an incredibly successful event, and we found some very important information from our counts. Results will be available soon!

As a continuation of the Waste Audit, we are looking at how to improve UFV on a Facilities level. Part of this has to do with creating a more effective strategy for waste receptacles in our buildings. We NEED VOLUNTEERS to conduct building walk-throughs to give us an idea of what our current waste receptacle situation is so that we can plan and implement a system that is clear, convenient, and efficient.

If you would like to volunteer, you will be in charge of a walk-through of the common spaces (hallways, student lounges, dining areas, etc) of either all floors of one building or a couple single-floor buildings. This can be done whenever is most convenient for you and should take under an hour.

Your steps to take are:

  1. Email Travis to let him know that you’d like to participate.
  2. Pick up a walk-through package at Facilities with a Legend and Floorplans for each of the floors in your building.
  3. Conduct the walk-through, noting on the floorplans where our waste receptacles, seating areas, vending machines, and water fill stations are, following the guidelines in the Legend.
  4. Once complete, you can hand your Walk-through package back into Facilities. We expect to have this completed by November 4th.

Please email Travis Gingerich if you would like to participate, as well as whether you would be available to check out other UFV buildings elsewhere in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, or Mission.

Thanks for your continued support in making UFV a more sustainable place!
