Instructional Skills Workshop a Success in UFV India

In December 2015 UFV Faculty members David Tickner and Raymonder Tickner conducted the Instructional Skills Workshops (ISW) at the UFV India campus in Chandigarh. The ISW Program is a comprehensive three-tiered instructor development program. The workshop focuses on the teaching from the point of view of students and not from the point of view of teachers and it emphasizes, not simply on teaching but on teaching effectively.

ISW was first brought to India in August 2014 by Mr. Upkar Krishan Sharma, the President of the GGDSD College Society in collaboration with the University of the Fraser Valley.

The first ISW was facilitated by Ms. Raymonde Tickner in August, 2014. The second level of ISW is Faculty Development Workshop (FDW), which was conducted by Mr. David Tickner and Ms. Maureen Wideman in December, 2014 and the last level, Trainer Development Workshop (TDW) was conducted in December, 2015 by Ms. Raymonde and Mr. David Tickner. Now the five participants are the recognised Trainers of ISW program in India; namely, Dr. Kiran Partap Kashyap, Ms. Bharti Arora, Dr. Meenakshi Negi, Dr. Ajay Sharma and Dr. Monica Sachdeva. After being trained as ISW facilitators in December 2014, these five employees of GGDSD College Society had started conducting Instructional Skills Workshops at their respective institutions.
