UFV Cascades Women’s Soccer Keeper Kayla Klim to play for W-League’s Dayton Dutch Lions this summer

Abbotsford, BC….Kayla Klim, Burnaby, BC, the UFV Cascades first year goalkeeper has agreed to play for the W-League’s Dayton Dutch Lions in this summer’s USL league.  The Dutch Lions are in the Southeast Division and compete with the Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina Elite Cobras, Charlotte Lady Eagles and VSI Tampa Bay FC for a right to compete for the W-League title in late July.  The regular season consists of 10 matches within their division. 

“I am very proud of Kayla, she is venturing out and challenging herself to take her game to the next level. Kayla is an outstanding goalkeeper with a very bright future. I love that Kayla relentlessly pursues excellence in all she does, she is a joy to coach. She has been in very good form this spring and I’m confident she will do very well Dayton this summer,”  commented Rob Giesbrecht, UFV Cascades head coach.

In her rookie season Kayla played in five UFV Cascades Canada West regular season matches.  Kayla posted a 1-1-1 record and made 9 saves in the UFV net for a 0.60 goals against average.  Kayla shutout the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, 2-0, in Saskatoon for her first career victory and shutout.     

“I am really excited for the experiences ahead of me this summer. The opportunity is going to allow me to take a huge step out of my comfort zone and really push myself,” said Kayla on her summer opportunities.

The USL W-League is a North American women’s developmental organization.  The W-League is also an open league, giving college players the opportunity to play alongside established international players while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league is administered by the United Soccer Leagues system (the USL).
