At 10:20 on Thursday, October 20 UFV will test UFV Alert: the emergency notification system designed to keep you and the UFV community connected with key information during an emergency or severe weather closure.
During the test, you will receive a message on your phone or device provided you have registered with UFV Alert.
If you are on the Abbotsford campus, or in Building A at the Chilliwack campus, you will hear an audio test of the UFV emergency public address system during the drill. No evacuation is necessary.
ShakeOut and UFV Alert – together at last.
The UFV Alert test takes place the same morning as the province-wide earthquake drill: The Great British Columbia ShakeOut.
At approximately 10:20 am on October 20, UFV staff and students are encouraged to join the hundreds of thousands of people voluntarily participating in this preparedness drill.
During the drill participants should:
- Drop to the ground
- Cover under a table or desk
- Hold On for 60 seconds
Participation is voluntary. For more information on how to participate in ShakeOut please visit The Great British Columbia ShakeOut.
