Interested in working in a creative field?

Artists of all stripes are encouraged to enjoy professional feedback, portfolio advice, and even the chance to win a free iPad mini at UFV’s Graphic and Digital Design info session and portfolio workshop in Mission (33700 Prentis Avenue) on Tues, Feb 3.

Graphic design includes designing logos, books, websites, motion graphics, iPad apps, posters, and much more! Find out what it takes to become a graphic designer and how UFV can help.

The event begins at 6 pm with an info session and lab tour looking into how to design logos, books, websites, motion graphics, iPad apps, posters, and more. Those on the tour will learn what it takes to be a graphic designer and about UFV’s unique Graphic + Digital Design diploma program and BFA with a Graphic Design extended minor.

“This is a great opportunity for big thinkers who love to create and explore,” says GDD program coordinator Karin Jager.

“It’s perfect if you’re a visual communicator, are passionate about art and design, and interested in people, the environment, and society.”

The event switches gears for a fun, informative portfolio workshop from 7:30–9 pm, when artists are encouraged to bring sketchbooks and artwork to receive constructive reviews while learning to build strong entrance portfolios.

“The workshop is a great chance to connect with people — from current students to staff — while getting great feedback on your art from industry professionals.”

February’s event is open to the public but will mostly interest either high-school students looking to learn about design, or anyone interested in developing their skills for a career in the creative industry.

Located at UFV’s Mission campus nestled in the foothills above Fraser River in the Heritage Park Centre, UFV’s GDD program offers a Macintosh studio environment and instructors who are creative professionals working in the creative industry.
