Nursing students host health fair at Cottonwood Mall

Health education is an important part of the skill set of professional nurses, and UFV’s nurses-in-training get hands-on experience in this area by hosting health fairs for the public.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will be hosting a Health Fair at the Cottonwood Mall in Chillliwack on Fri, March 15, from 9:30 am to 9 pm.

This is an annual event which provides the students with the opportunity to engage in community-based health promotion.

This year the poster presentations will appeal to clients across the lifespan with topics  such as promotion of breastfeeding, healthy living for children, the importance of childhood immunization, smoking cessation, risks associated with binge drinking, sun safety, prevention of high blood pressure, prescription drug misuse, organ donation, and prevention of falls and hip fractures among the older population.

Drop by and check out their displays.
