UFV Chandigarh hosts second annual Terry Fox Run

UFV students are keeping the spirit of Terry Fox alive, worldwide.

Recently, more than 50 UFV students at the UFV campus in Chandigarh, India visited over 30 schools to talk about Terry Fox and the Terry Fox Foundation.

The students were promoting the second annual Terry Fox Run in Chandigarh — an event that drew more than 3,000 people to walk, run and cycle.

During the run, which took place on Sunday, Feb. 5, students volunteered their time to be road marshals and hand out water.

The successful run was followed by cultural performances by student groups from various schools.

The event, hosted by UFV Chandigarh, started last year following a speech by the Consul General of Canada, Scott Slessor. He discussed Terry Fox in his keynote address to students and parents at the fifth annual UFV awards ceremony.

The talk inspired the first Terry Fox Run in Chandigarh in 2011, which saw over 2,000 participants.

This year, Slessor hosted a special thank-you dinner for the student volunteers at the official Canadian Consulate residence in Chandigarh.
