International Women’s Day at UFV

An evening of information sharing, networking and presenting will take place at UFV next week in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event is taking place on Thursday, March 8 and is being hosted by UFV’s Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies in collaboration with the Abbotsford/Mission Community Services, South Asian Peer Network Association (SAPNA), and International Centre for Criminal Law Reform & Criminal Justice Policy.

Starting at 5 p.m., a variety of colourful displays will be showcased by the numerous local organizations that support women in need.

There will also be displays of international and community projects that aim to help women facing challenges in their lives.

At approximately 6 p.m., the main event will take place, which will comprise of a series of women’s stories. Each story will be three to four minutes long and will be read out loud by the author or a reader.

By sharing their stories, it”s hoped that women will feel supported, empowered and appreciated.
