Sichuan Study Tour

May 15-25, 2018

Travel to the heart of Sichuan, China, home of the world’s giant pandas. Enjoy 10 days immersed in the capital city of Chengdu, China, with Visual Arts Professor Shelley Stefan.

Students gain academic credit in drawing while exploring the Giant Panda Research Base, Sichuan teahouses, Buddhist temples, lotus ponds, ancient sites, art museums, and more!

Students stay with faculty at the host campus of Sichuan Normal University, UFV’s recent exchange partner. SNU campus is located right in the hub of Chengdu, a thriving and cultural city, home to the world-famous, spicy Sichuan cuisine.

Learn traditional Chinese ink drawing at SNU College of Fine Arts, do Tai Chi sketching at sunrise, draw pandas in their natural habitat – have an experience of a lifetime while enjoying the art, culture, and cuisine of Chengdu, China.

Study Tour Requirement*:

Students must register in one or more of the following:

  1. VA 113 — Introduction to Drawing — 3 credits (No pre-req’s needed)
  2. VA 421 — Independent Study: Painting/Drawing — 3 credits
  3. VA 221 — Drawing II – 3 credits
  4. VA 422 — Independent Study: Painting/Drawing — 3 credits

Study Tour Cost: $2,200

  • Price covers flights, hotel, bus, visa, and event tickets
  • Students pay for their own food, which is extremely affordable and delicious!
